THE THING ABOUT SPRING
It’s refreshing rain.
It’s more sunshine.
It’s newness of life.
It’s green and colorful.
The previous season, winter, is one of dormancy. All the trees and plants are resting in a sense. The leaves are gone. The colors are gone. Humans tend to stay inside or as we like to say, hibernate, more in the cold season.
Spring is a time of restoration. Trees, plants and grass are coming back to life. There is new growth all around us. Even humans seem to come back to life. It’s encouraging to see life being restored everywhere we look in this season.
Restoration means to bring something back to its former position or condition.
God is the One who breathes life into plants, relationships, health and lives. In the bible, He talks about this quite a bit. He promises that he is the One who restores.
Jehovah El Ashiyb - the Lord my Restorer
A few scriptures:
Psalm 23:3
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
The Lord promises to restore our soul. His desire is to refresh and renew us.
Restore us, Lord God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.
It’s ok to ask the Lord to restore you and your circumstances.
After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.
For Job (and many others) the Lord restored what they had lost. Job literally lost everything in his life. In the end, ALL that was taken away from him was given back to him. Get this, God gave him TWICE what he had before! This is what He can do for each of us.
As we go through the spring season, is there something in your life that you need God to restore? He can restore your life, your marriage, your relationship with Him, and the years that have been lost or wasted.
It begins with our willingness to seek Him. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” Seeking Him with our whole heart requires surrender and trust.
Total surrender and trust will always bring
opportunity for God’s restoration to begin.
