TRUSTING IN THE UNCOMFORTABLE
Keep Trusting.
It’s my word for 2023.
Why in the world would I need to learn more about trust? Truth is that we all need to learn more about trusting the Lord in this life. But what does this look like?
Honestly, I’m still not completely sure what this looks like in real life. I’m still learning so much about trusting Him.
I like to go on a walk at a local park. I don’t always pay attention to the details as I’m walking through the park. This day was a unique one. It was my sabbath and I was being intentional with spending time with God. I longed to hear his voice and to see what he wanted to show me.
The Lord started speaking so clearly to me…
As we go through life, we make choices on a regular basis.
- Choosing to wake up and get out of bed.
- Choosing to take a shower or not.
- We decide what to have for breakfast.
- Spending time with God is a choice too.
Our days are full on constant decisions or choices. Every choice we make affects the next one.
We often make our everyday, mundane decisions on our own. It’s just what we do. Why would we need to ask for anyone else’s input when it’s just a normal thing we do?
What if ...
What if God wanted us to change things up?
What if He wanted to be a part of our daily routine?
What if He wanted us to ask him what to do?
What if we change how we do things?
What if God has something better for us?
What if He wanted us to go right instead of left? So much of the time we get stuck in a rut and it gets pretty comfortable.
Being uncomfortable makes us squirm in our seats. It’s the times when we’re in an awkward conversation, or when the preacher is saying something that hits us in that place of accountability, or when we unintentionally get called out on something we said or did that wasn’t honest.
I’ve learned that God is in the uncomfortable.
When He says to talk to someone that we don’t really know. When He says to have that hard conversation. Even the time when we know that He is wanting us to do something that we don’t really know how to do. Having to ask for help can be uncomfortable. When life is painful and you don’t know if you can push through it. When it’s hard to take that next step because it hurts too much.
Trusting God in the uncomfortable isn’t easy.
What if HE actually knows what is best for us?
What if HE actually knows what we need?
What if He actually knows it all?
Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he’s the one who will keep you on track.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (The Message)
Is God not worthy of trust? He has proven to me over and over that he is. He really is!
